How are the latest trends increasing demand for Data Scientists?

Paul Taylor has contracted exclusively through KDR since beginning his contracting career in June 2010.
KDR Managing Director Mark Dexter was involved in Paul’s decision to take the plunge and leave permanent employment. Paul had approached KDR about a permanent role but looking at his CV, Mark saw the potential for Paul to gain back some of the ownership of his work that was missing in his career.
After an initial conversation and a sleepless night for Mark, worrying whether he was giving Paul the best advice, the two met face to face and their trust in each other’s capabilities grew. Commenting on that meeting now, Paul says “I felt reassured that Mark and his team at KDR understood what I was capable of and the value I could add to clients, even if specific keywords weren’t included on my CV.”
His trust was rewarded when he resigned, secured an interview during his four week notice period and started his first contract role on the Monday after leaving his old job.
Did the benefits outweigh the risks?
The demand for Paul’s skills has meant that he has been in continuous contract employment since June 2010 apart from a few weeks when contracts have ended during slow periods like Christmas and the summer holidays. Through KDR, he’s worked for clients including BP, Friends Life and Skandia as well as doing some consultancy for SAP themselves.
An honest appraisal
When asked whether he would recommend KDR to other contractors, Paul comments, “I prefer to be represented by KDR because I see how well they deal with clients. Sitting alongside hiring managers, I hear them get exasperated with pestering phone calls from desperate recruiters chasing targets. The team at KDR don’t operate like that and garner respect as a result.”
He continues “I place a lot of trust in KDR to represent me honestly. Having seen other people’s bad experiences with things like non-existent roles, I need to know that I’m not being lied to. They’ve never let me down.”
