The life of a Business Administration apprentice!
I started my apprenticeship with KDR in the September of 2018, when I was searching for a job I never imagined that I would find a company quite like KDR, from the moment I first stepped through the door everyone was so welcoming and was there to help me.
Although I have only been here for a short period of time I have not only learnt a lot about what it takes to be a business administrator but learnt so much about KDR as business dating back to them starting up in 2003.
Since starting there has been an array of skills and tasks that I have learnt, the main task I do on a day to day basis is reformat CV’s that are sent to the team. Reformatting CV’s is something that takes up most of my day because it is important that all the significant information is highlighted, and all the candidate’s information is kept in the CV.
I have also recently learnt how to complete weekly competitor reports, these are done so that we can see how all our other competitor’s social media pages are doing and if they are doing better than ours, we can try to analyse what they are including and with this information, we can try and apply that to our own social media pages.
One of my favourite tasks to do is to update the contractor and permanent placements board, this board keeps track of all the contractors and permanent candidates that we have placed, I love that it is structured and colourful so it’s always a fun task to get all the different coloured pens out! The board must constantly be updated so that the recruiters can see how far they have come and how far they need to go.
There are quite a few small tasks that I have to complete such as keeping track of petty cash, running to the post office every week to send out sweets and a handwritten note to newly placed candidates. I also keep stock levels for our stationery cupboard and make orders when they are needed, and probably the best task is ordering the beer so that the team can enjoy a nice drink every Friday at 4pm!
When you’re working in this office every day, I can honestly say there is never a dull moment, there are always things to be doing and everyone is very supportive and want to see you grow into the best person you can be.
KDR not only care about the candidates and clients they speak to, but they also care a whole lot about the team they work with. You will find that some amazing people work here, and they will do whatever it takes to find you your perfect job. I understand that being the new person can be daunting especially when your apprentice learning the ropes, but it gets easier I promise, just always remember to be yourself and let your personality show because that is how you will succeed!
I still have a long way to go before I finish my apprenticeship but I’m excited to see where it takes me and to face any new challenges head on and give it my best shot. Who knows what the future holds?
