Networking
By Tom Southern

Last week I attended the IP Expo in London, it was my first time attending a conference on this scale and I was excited to go on behalf of KDR. The IP Expo was focused on how data analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can have an impact on all industries.

It was a great day with plenty of networking and learning opportunities, take a look below for a short diary of my day.

9:30am

I arrive in London, after a very early start in Cheshire! I’m keen to get to the conference and start learning and exploring the future of technology

10am

I attend the first key note of the day with Stuart Russel, a professor of electrical engineering and computer sciences at the University of California. His talk was about AI and it was fascinating (and amazing) to hear about the past, present and future of AI.

11am

This was an hour spent for networking, I got a chance to visit a lot of the stands in the exhibition hall letting me learn more of BI and big data analytics.

I even managed to squeeze some time in to play on the F1 simulator (I almost made it on to the leader board)!

12pm

Lunch time. This was a great moment for me to really network with professionals at the event, I was able to network and connect with several prospective clients. Being able to network in this situation is really beneficial, as it allows for more personality to come across.

1pm

More networking, speaking to both candidates and clients alike.

3pm

I attended another of the many talks throughout the day. In this one I learnt about how big data can help build reports with the use of data warehousing.

4pm

Home time.

Attending the IP Expo was a great experience, and I will definitely be aiming to attend more conferences and events in the future. I would highly recommend attending similar events and next year I will be back at IP Expo.

Are there any conferences or events you can recommend I attend? Do you see the benefits of attending these conferences?
