Senior Data Scientist – AWS, Python, ML

With a growing number of SME’s in the insurance space comes the need for these organisations to be more effective in identifying trends and mitigating risks.

Our client is committed to delivering ground breaking insurance analytics software and are looking for an ambitious data scientist to become a lead in improving the teams ability to identify insights in big data sets through the building of ML models and AI techniques. They formed out of Oxford University and since have been steadily growing from their team having the freedom to be innovative in their approach.

You’d be expected to form insights from a disparate set of data, with both publicly-available datasets (such as Google or Companies House information) and private datasets (such as historic claims information).

Requirements:

  • Proficient with Python
  • Good understanding of statistical techniques/methods
  • Experience in extracting, processing and analysing data sets
  • Understanding of data & analytics applications in the business context
  • General curiosity to explore value from data
  • Clear evidence that you are always looking to develop your skills
  • A few years of commercial development experience in a senior role
  • Experience of mentoring more junior scientists in a commercial environment
  • Evidence of interactions with non-tech teams

Desirable:

  • Experience using cloud computing for data science (AWS or Azure)
  • Actuarial background or experience in insurance sector
