Senior Data Architect

Role purpose

Understand client data and reporting processes, translate client requirements into high-level architecture designs and provide innovative and robust data warehousing solutions.

What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Data Architect, you will look to re-engineer and transform data from client sites and systems into the in-house platform. The data then flows into complex actuarial models and provides financial and actuarial reporting outputs for our clients.

This is a client facing technical role, so you’ll need to be comfortable working across various areas of a business.

Main accountabilities

  • To engage with the implementation teams, providing technical expertise and leadership around data architecture, data warehousing and BI
  • To provide technical guidance and thought leadership to the wider team
  • Design high level architecture solutions
  • Supporting the team, ensuring there is a clear understanding and that best practices are followed

The experience you’ll need

  • Proven experience leading Data Architecture within an insurance environment
  • Up to date BI & data warehouse development experience – SQL, SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS
  • Insurance industry experience – understanding of financial, actuarial and insurance concepts
  • Detailed knowledge of modern data warehousing tools – AWS, Redshift, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Power BI, Looker etc.
  • The ability to translate high-level architecture into more technical language

It would be great if you had

  • Life Insurance experience
  • Hadoop Map/Reduce, using either Hive or Pig
  • Azure Data Factory – Mapping data flows
