We’re working with a company who are a global leader in their field, a company that has a track record of collaboration and innovation with their customers and are on the hunt for their next Lead Data Engineer - Spark, Kafka.

They have a vision to lead the way in expanding their global reach with regards to Data Analytics, and we have a truly amazing opportunity for a Lead Data Engineer who’s at the top of their game to join them on their journey in creating and building the biggest Enterprise Data Platform (EDP).

This is a truly compelling opportunity for you the Lead Data Engineer to join a dynamic team, utilising knowledge and skills within Apache Spark, and Kafka.

Lead Data Engineer:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Data Engineer, to be part of a team creating a new Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) which will provide powerful analytical capabilities. With a vision to create the biggest data platform, this is a key role within the data engineering team, ensuring that the Hadoop Platform at the heart of the initiative is secured, available, performant and fit for purpose.

This is what you’ll be doing:

Working alongside the Head of Data Engineering, you will operationally guide and mentor 2 or more junior team members, focusing on Data Engineering.  You will be expected to lead the design of code production processes, leading to production of high quality code for the EDP that meets business requirements. Working within a dynamic team, you be responsible for building and data loading using the Hortonworks toolset.

Are you the ideal candidate?

  • Passionate about Data Engineering and the variety of tools and technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience using large scale database systems such as Netezza, DB2, Sybase or Oracle.
  • Thorough developer testing experience.
  • Hands on experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Kafka, MapReduce.
  • Significant experience developing efficient code in Java, SQL, Linux, Shell or Python.
