DBA | Gloucester | £45,000 – £50,000 per year

What you’ll be doing

As a Database Administrator, you’ll will work as part of the group Data Analytics team to provide a DBA service for existing and planned SQL Server installations, within both the Azure platform and on-premises infrastructure.

  • Manage and monitor on-premises SQL Server instances
  • Manage and monitor infrastructure components and pipelines that support data flows
  • Provide technical guidance to developers and users on performance tuning of queries and stored procedures
  • Enable good technical decisions by understanding the purpose of the system, customer interaction, system goals, and providing key data points
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, administration and automation for infrastructure, applications, and database components

It’s up to you! When we hopefully start to return to normal, you’ll have the option of where you would like to work from, whether it’s your parent’s spare bedroom to a beach in the Bahamas!

If you do decide you want to work out of the office some/all the time, then they have an office in Cheltenham which is readily available.

You’ll work under a manager who likes to give full autonomy and flexibility to his team, giving people the opportunity to be creative.

The skills & experience you’ll ideally have

  • 3+ years’ experience working as a Database Administrator (DBA), System Administrator, SRE, DevOps or similar role
  • Experience supporting and developing databases, such as developing schemas in Oracle or SQL Server
  • Experience with Windows Server administration and database management
  • Strong knowledge of / experience with one or more of the following scripting languages for automation purposes: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible
  • Experience working with cloud-based services and concepts – Azure, AWS, GCP
