Data Scientist – R, Python, Machine Learning

Innovation and modernisation is at the heart of this top Financial Services organisation, and the complexity of their customer data and desire to be data driven has generated the need to employ you, a storyteller of Data – AKA – a Data Scientist with R/Python programming skills, and previous experience of applying Machine Learning techniques in a production / commercial environment!

This Data Scientist position will see you contributing to the development of new Data Products whilst applying machine learning techniques to maximise internal marketing data and give real insight to the key stakeholders. This includes analysing huge and very complex datasets – and given the size of their customer base, you won’t ever be bored!

Your new team:

There is only a very small Data Science team at present, (1 other Data Scientist) which you will either love or hate. It’s worth noting that this is nearly a Greenfield data science function, a blank canvas for you to really get your name to something!

You’ll report straight into senior management (Head of level) and we’re working on building a team of other Data Scientists to work alongside you.
You’ll also take complete ownership of your own innovation and design and develop machine learning algorithms, statistical models, as well as data analysis & insight delivery to answer questions to real business problems.

Your new company:

  • They’re big – so if you’re after a start-up these guys aren’t for you.
  • This department is growing and there’s a lot of work to do, so if you like the idea of being part of a large, stable company with set processes in place – but being sat in a smaller / family feel division as part of this; it would be perfect for you.

About you and the skills you’ll need:

  • A proven Data scientist (most recent role) with at least 2-3 years’ experience
  • Hands on programming experience with R, Python, MATLAB or Java
  • Detailed knowledge of data manipulation tools (e.g. SAS, SQL).
  • Modelling platform experience, such as Prophet or Emblem
  • Data visualisation tools, such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience of creating/applying different Machine Learning techniques to large sets of information

To apply:

In return you will receive a competitive basic salary + a comprehensive benefits package, including at least one day a week working from home after you’ve passed your probation. Best of all, you’ll be working with one of the worlds most recognised organisations in their field.

To be considered, hit apply and we’ll be in touch to go through your experience and discuss the opportunity & client in more detail with you.
