BI Developer – Data Warehouse

A talented BI Developer is required to be the first data specialist on the ground for our upcoming client in the city of London. You’d be joining a close-knit team, helping them fulfill their ambitions of becoming industry leading energy service providers.

They’re committed to relieving their consumers from the pain of managing their energy utilities through their innovative service and you’d become a core part of helping them understand their progress in detail. They have a unique partnership in place with a leading energy giant and this year they plan to triple their number of customers. Working alongside a leading data and analytics consultancy, you’ll be supporting the business by building the Data Warehouse. Then by developing reporting requirements, gathering data from multiple sources to deliver insights for the business. The BI Developer role is a new position within the company, so you’ll be able to lead on initiative and take ownership over providing useful understanding on how and where they are succeeding with their customers. Also, you’ll be required to run, maintain and improve existing reports across various functions of the business, for the entire customer journey.

Relevant Experience:

Having at least 3-5 years’ experience working on BI Developer projects, with a proven record of taking initiative in helping businesses make competitive decisions based on useful insights. You will easily work within a team or independently, making plans whilst being flexible and adaptable to change.

Essentials

  • Proven experience of building a Data Warehouse, scope around end to end development.
  • Experience of data modelling using tools such as Kimble, Star Scheme, Dimensions or Measures.
  • Strong SQL/T-SQL skills.
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Employed at some point within a small organisation or having worked in a mass consumer environment.
  • Must be adaptable to change.

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering full life-cycle BI projects.
  • Designing dashboards and wireframes.
  • Power BI Dataflow, Power BI data models, Power BI dashboards, Power BI mobile, Power BI Scheduling and Security, Power Query in Excel.
  • Using other programming languages such as Python or R.

Energy expertise is not required. This opportunity is ideal for someone who really enjoys getting involved with greenfield projects. The ideal BI Developer will be someone who wants to develop into a mature role as even though the company are data driven and most members come from an analytical background, they will be leading in setting up and evolving the foundations for their reporting solutions.
