Head of Data Science (12-Month FTC) | London | Hybrid | £80,000 – £100,000 depending on experience

1 day per week in London

*Initially this is a 12-month fixed-term contract but there is a possibility of the role being made permanent.

Our client:

We are working with an innovative scale-up tech company that has recently received £30 million in investment. This is a UK-founded organisation that has been voted in the Financial Times 1000 fastest growing companies in Europe in 2022. Using their own Customer Intelligence Platform, they help their clients understand their customers on a human basis.

Data Science is the engine room of this company; they’re on the lookout for a Leader who is able to manage 8 direct reports in the team & able to navigate and prioritise workload…

What will you be responsible for?

  • Managing a team of 8 direct reports
  • Performing 121’s, performance reviews, monthly catch ups & stand-ups
  • Working with other Heads Of departments on strategic objectives
  • Ensure a collaborative working environment that empowers the team end ensures this engine room keeps going!
  • Effectively distribute and prioritise data science resource based on the demands of the company

What will you need to succeed?

  • 3 years minimum as a Data Science Manager
  • Have led Data Science teams to deliver Machine Learning solutions
  • It’s not only important to have practical experience – but understand the “why” and theoretical knowledge behind a problem
  • Strong communication skills – able to deal with high-level stakeholders and help the team communicate and problem solve
