IBM puts Cognos analytics on the iPad
IBM says Cognos on the iPad helps employees in key sectors – such as financial services, healthcare, government, communications, retail, and travel and transportation – benefit from analytics on the go.
Application areas include medicine, social services and financial services. IBM says Cognos on the iPad could be used by doctors and dentists to analyse electronic medical records and show patients customised treatment plans and explain procedures based on that analysis.
In social care, IBM says social workers can use the iPad app to check the health and well-being of children in foster homes throughout a city and update supervisors, police and courts on their status in real time.
Along with the iPad app, IBM has made its InfoSphere BigInsights Big Data tool available on the IBM SmartCloud.
IBM said bringing big data analytics to the cloud means clients can capture and analyse any data without the need for Hadoop skills, or having to install, run or maintain hardware and software.
