How are the latest trends increasing demand for Data Scientists?
February 9th, 2023
One of the things we love about the field of data management is that it’s still evolving. It’s an area rich in compelling issues, cutting-edge thought leadership, and new technologies, and there’s always something new to learn. Certainly for us as specialist recruiters, as well as for any data professional, it’s critical to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest developments in the industry.
Fortunately, there are a number of fantastic conferences held throughout the year that can help you do just that. Here are our recommendations for the best ones to attend.
TDWI is the leading trade body for the industry, and in our opinion, the educational aspect of their events is excellent. Most recently, TWDI held a 3-day forum in London that focuses on business intelligence and data warehousing. Our advice is to get this symposium on your radar for next year, or try to attend any of their U.S. conferences.
Gartner is the go-to source for information technology research and statistics. Their upcoming March 2015 event in London is a must for all BI professionals interested in Gartner’s insight and thought leadership. Immediately on the heels of the BI and Analytics conference is an Enterprise Information and Master Data Summit, with the goal of maximising business outcomes through digital information strategies.
The UK chapter of the International Data Management Association is a great source for smaller scale discussion forums, conferences, and educational presentations. As the trade organisation for data management professionals, DAMA provides significant professional development and networking opportunities as well. View upcoming events – covering topics such as data visualisation and data modelling – here.
IRM UK is a leading strategic IT training company. IRM offers training in a number of areas including enterprise architecture, business analysis and information strategy. They offer special events focused on data management and data quality, as well as on other areas such as business process management We’re regular attendees at their data management conferences, and can recommend you keep an eye out for upcoming events here.
The March/April 2015 EDW in Washington DC promises to be one of the most comprehensive data management conferences in the world. Covering topics such as data governance, agile data, BI and analytics, EDW is a huge event that attracts an audience that is truly enthusiastic about data. If you can make it to Washington, we’d say this one is a can’t-miss.
Attending conferences, educational summits and industry events is a tremendous opportunity to build your professional credentials, and broaden and deepen your education. Not only that, but you get to network with other data management professionals and thought leaders in the field. We highly recommend you try to attend one of the above conferences or any similar event that keeps you current and connected in the data management world.
We’d like to hear from you. Which data conferences or seminars have you attended that you would recommend? What makes for a successful and rewarding event?
