The Use of Data Analytics in Recruitment
March 11th, 2019
I’m not one that is normally writing statuses and blogs about “New Year, new me” but when it comes to your job search now is the time to kick-start your hunt. Before the Christmas break I wrote about how to bag that perfect job before the festivities began, but now we’re in 2017 and the market is at its most competitive.
Your CV is the first impression most recruiters and hiring managers get of you, therefore it is essential you get it right. You need to make sure you have a structure that works for you and stick to it throughout. We advise all our candidates to have one main CV and then to work from this, sending specific specialised CVs to the different jobs they apply for. And remember the golden rule: your CV should be between 2 – 4 pages, if you find it goes over cut it down!
Networking is key when looking for a new job. By networking you can meet other professionals like yourself, whose company may be hiring or even meet managers who are hiring for people just like you. Make a point to attend at least one networking event or conference while job hunting and try to talk to as many people as possible.
Just like before the holidays reconnecting with people you already know can be an easy way to get in front of the right people. Now is a great time to start up conversations with different people, including recruiters, you haven’t spoken to in a while. By simply asking them how their Christmas was you get a quick way to get in the front on their mind. You never know who might be hiring!
These are just a few ways you can get you job search started in January, for even more advice check out our blog on the first steps to your job search. And don’t forget KDR is here to help you find a new job or simply give you advice on finding a new role that is right for you!
Are you job hunting this January? What advice would you give to other candidates?
